Boot Jacks are an important an interesting piece of early Americana! Beetle / Cricket forms are a very common theme, and the design worked really well to accomplish the task so there were numerous different examples that were produced and marketed. Nearly every one offered here is slightly different from the other, and all have good age and detail.
Boot jacks are still being produced today. In general the castings are cruder and the detailing less defined than the earliest originals. Many aare made of materials other than Cast Iron such as brass or aluminum. . Many of the recasts are now quite old and at times it is hard to tell. There is no problem identifying some of the newer examples.

This unusual wooden boot jack is in super nice
condition. The auxiliary folding boot pulls are stored inside, and given
the size difference, and the fact that one has a buttonhook end, I am assuming
one is for the man and the other for the lady. Be sure to look at all the
