Antique Charcoal Irons
Eclipse Charcoal Iron Here is a good looking charcoal heated antique iron that has the name "Eclipse" and on the top. It is also marked "Patent Appld For 1902". Note the little star emblem on the front. It looks like it was painted or blackened at some point in the past. ML-152CHAR
Very Good ..... $45.00
Eclipse Charcoal Iron Here is another that looks great, even better than the above one till you look at the sole. It has some of the deepest pitting I have ever seen. Priced accordingly. Click for Pic Click for Pic

Very Good ..... $15.00
This is a handsome iron and in super nice condition. I seriously doubt if it was ever fired up. I think it's a George Finn patent from the looks of the lever-activated round holes on the top that serve as operable air vents, his signature design. This must have been when he was in his "stars and stripes" phase, an displays as a great looking item of historic Americana! Click for Pic Click for Pic ML-CI-A-1
Patented 1932 Charcoal Iron with Embossed Stars
Excellent........$125.00
Finn Patent Charcoal Iron Here is a good looking charcoal heated antique iron patented by the same fellow as the one above. Whether this one is earlier or later I do not know. Click for Pic

Good ..... $35.00
3 American Charcoal Irons with Chimneys These three antique irons are similar to each other in that they all have front chimneys or smoke stacks, but take a closer look because all three are different. Can you imagine firing up one of these charcoal heated irons in the summertime---I think I would opt for wrinkles! Click for Pic
On the left is one by the Colebrookdale Co. of Eastern Pennsylvania. As far as I know this was the only charcoal iron they produced---mainly they manufactured Mrs. Potts style sadirons. The name of the firm is proudly cast into the top. BCM-66 Good ..... $35.00
The iron in the middle is unmarked as to manufacturer, but note the heat shield under the handle designed to protect the ironer's fingers from what must have been sometimes unbearable heat radiating up from the iron. BCM-70 Good ..... $25.00
The iron on the right was patented by Bless & Drake, two prolific inventors who went to great lengths to come up with imaginative and innovative designs for all sorts of irons. They hailed from Newark, NJ and this iron was patented in 1852 which is relatively early. BCM-68 Good ..... $45.00
The "EverReady" Patented Charcoal Iron I have to laugh at the name of this one---once again marketing at it's finest. How could any iron that you have to carefully build a fire in be called the Ever Ready! This iron is really well made which you can see in the details of how it is put together. This example will benefit greatly from a good cleaning. Click for Pic BCM-83
Good ..... $25.00
The "EverReady" Patented Charcoal Iron Another example of the EverReady, this one in nicer condition and will clean even better. Click for Pic Click for Pic Click for Pic BCM-57
Good ..... $40.00
"The Only One" Charcoal Iron Another variation of the Finn patent iron, this one called "The Only One". Those circular exhaust holes in the top must have been quite the sight with the smoke pouring out! But a number of manufacturers seemed to want to get away from the idea of using a smokestack. Good ..... $35.00
2 American Charcoal Iron Not exactly a matched pair but they look real good sitting next to each other. Both with chimneys, both with heat shields, and both with figural dampers---the one on the left is marked "Royal" and pictures a dog, while the one on the right is the wizard looking guy.
