Charcoal Irons

Charcoal Heated Iron with Unusual Latch There are no markings to indicate the origins of this iron but it has an interesting design to the front latch. It is also a bit smaller in size from most of this style. The red paint on the wooden handle grip and the gold paint on the handle support and latch give every indication of being original. It would benefit greatly from a good cleaning. BCM-73
Fair ..... $15.00
Pagoel Charcoal Heated Iron with Unusual Latch This one has a similar weighted latch and is marked Pageol which I believe is Mexican or Spanish. The handle is also tilted and looks neat. Click for Pic

Gemo Danish Charcoal Heated Iron The name of this antique iron sounded English to me, and the handle is in the style used by early German iron manufacturers, but I've read that this was a Danish company, so I don't really know. In any case this iron is curious because on the one hand it looks very "20th Century Modern" in shape. On the other hand, who in modern times would still be using a charcoal iron? Obviously an iron that was leading the transition into the new era. The triangular chimney is so stylish! BCM-86
Good ..... $35.00
English Lyng Charcoal Iron Although this is more in the style of American charcoal irons it was manufactured by an English foundry by the name of Cross, who trademarked the iron "Lyng". The casting is of a really nice quality. The brass heat shield is impressed with the manufacturer's info and the visual form of the chimney and the damper door are second-to-none. Clean it up and show it off! Click for Pic Click for Pic BCM-311
Good..... $25.00
Charcoal Iron I'm not sure where this iron originates from. It has a nice heat shield, and there is a large #3 cast into the top. The draft on the tail end is different This iron just needs a cleaning or coat of gloss to make it look great. Click for Pic LCM-CC
Good..... $15.00
Charcoal Iron with a "G" Logo The G on the handle was the trademark of the Grossag Co., a German firm. This is a good looking iron in very nice original condition and will clean up to be even better. Click for Pic BCM-84
Very Good ..... $25.00
Charcoal Iron with Chimney This charcoal iron has a chimney that points in the direction that could spell disaster for the left handed ironer! It has a rear lever to unlatch the top, and an embossed heat shield to protect the fingers. Click for Pic BCM-281
Fair ..... $20.00
Charcoal Iron with Figural Latch I don't know why the chicken was such a popular figure to use for the latch of European charcoal irons, but there are lots of different variations of the theme, and this one is in real nice condition too. Click for Pic Click for Pic Click for Pic BCM-82
Very Good..... $25.00
Portuguese Split Stack Charcoal Iron As far as I know, these charcoal irons that originate from Portugal were the only ones that utilized this "split stack" design. The condition of this one is pretty rough, but the style is very unique! Click for Pic Click for Pic Click for Pic
