Rare & Special Antique Small Irons

Antique Iron Shaped Ink WellUnusual Copper Ox Tongue Form Iron INK WELL  This is a great piece in great condition.  It is something I have never seen before and must have come from a high end maker in Europe in the mid to late 19th century.  Be sure to view all the pictures.  This is really a nice piece you will not see again.

Child Size Alba Split Chimney Charcoal IronChild-Size Alba "Split Chimney" Charcoal Iron  This Portuguese child's charcoal iron measures just 4" in length.  It has a very unusual design with the top half of the chimney opening up as one-piece with the rest of the iron top, with a latch at the mouth of the stack.  There are some antique children's irons that are amazingly detailed and were probably produced in very limited quantities, and this is certainly one of those.  It's full size counterpart is hard enough to find---this little one even more so, especially in this nice condition and complete with its inside grate.

Antique Miniature Toy Swan Iron1 3/8" Miniature Swan   Swans under 1 1/2" are pretty rare birds.  We have had them all the way down to 1 1/8", but only a handful of all of them under the typical 1 1/2".  Some original paint, and a bit rough, but it wants to join the flock.  Early and nice!

Gas Jet Iron  This is a nicely made little gas jet iron that was patented in 1871.  It measures just about 3" long and was marketed as a real iron, not just a toy.  The holes through the body are meant to be used to heat this iron over or on a gas jet fixture prior to use.  The handle is very nice, and the supports have a nice cut out design.  A tough to find iron!

Child-Size
Antique Sleeve IronChild-Size Antique Sleeve Iron  This nickel plated children's sleeve iron would have been just the iron for a young girl to use to learn the fine points of ironing.  And just the right size for an adult to use to get into the tiny tucks and pleats that were so prevalent in antique clothing.  It measures 4.25 inches from the back of the gracefully rounded heel to the tip of the pointed toe.
