There are an endless variety of this style
flat or sad iron both American and International. They were made worldwide.
Some were very plain and utilitarian, and we call those bookends or doorstops.
Others were very fancy and intricate with a lot of design considerations.
They are listed on their respective pages.
It is fun to find one with a new logo or
name on them. Or perhaps even one with your name on it.
No collection could ever get them all (although
several collectors have made valiant efforts), and different ones appear all
the time. The thing about these irons is that they have been in collections
for years. They are not commonly found these days. You can not go
out and just buy most of these anymore at the local venues. This is the source,
and they are priced to sell.
Most are 5 -7" long and weigh 4-7 lbs
each.
A note on shipping: I ship most irons in fixed rate Priority boxes. There are two sizes of these boxes available now. One, two or sometimes even three or four irons can fit in the new larger fixed rate box, making shipping quite reasonable.

Handle Nickel Plated Sad Iron What a great looking
graphic iron. The two-tone contrast between the nickeled and black not
nickel plated portions is great. The cast iron handle is super.
It is unmarked but it is a great form iron.

French Tear Drop "SIV" Flat Irons Nice teardrop shape,
nice design, good-looking clover cast decoration on the tops. Just need
a light cleaning. Interesting!

#3 Hollow Grip Finishing Iron This small 5" iron is marked
on the top with a manufacturer I am not familiar with---Puch. It is lightly
pitted, but has a nice form, and nice details.

Tear Drop Sad Iron This interesting looking iron has a lovely form and decorative edge---a nice variation on the more typical spade-shaped flatiron. The markings on it say DC in a circle and the number 8. We have another available of this same iron, slightly larger in size, with the number 10.

Back Tear Drop Sad Iron This tear drop shaped iron is probably English in origin and has
a slightly different form from those that were made in Belgium.

Spade
Shape #12 Flat Bottom Wide Base Flat Work Iron This
iron has an extremely wide and fairly thin base and I imagine it was made to
specially handle "flatwork" as it was called---tablecloths, sheets, and other
large pieces. It is marked on the top with the number 12 and the letters
ACG in a circle. It is a very nice iron and is very graphic when you see
it in person because of it being so wide.

Belgian
Tear Drop Flat Iron
This
is a very nice looking iron. Belgian tear drops are very graphic and have
a special presence about them. The bottom of this one has a series of
round indentations, as if this iron was being used as an anvil of sorts at some
point.
