19th Century Sugar Devil  This wrought iron sugar devil or fruit auger has a great look and great patina.  These were used to break up fruit or packed sugar in casks or barrels and there are several different versions that can be found.  This one has a patent date in the late 1800's on the shank.  You just do not see this sort of Americana anymore!    Click for Pic     CYN-KT-1

19th Century Sugar Nippers  This wrought iron sugar nipper has a great look and great patina.  These devices were used to break up sugar chunks before the idea of individual cubes became the norm.  It has a ingenious handle locking feature at the end of the handle that hinges up to lock it closed.        Click for Pic      Click for Pic

Early 19th Century Cheese Cutter  This wrought iron framed cheese cutter is a super piece of Early American kitchenware and it is in really nice condition.  This piece measures about 23 inches tall (including the handle) and about 17 inches across.  The handle is adjustable in that one can unscrew and loosen it to allow it to move anywhere along the iron frame so the cutter can be used in any position.  This example has great patina.  You just do not see this sort of Americana anymore!    Click for Pic     Click for Pic      Click for Pic       LCM-KT-1

Patented Pot Scraper and Pie Crimper   I love multi tools!  I myself like to multi-task.  And typically, just like when I do two things at once and don't do either of them well, multi tools aren't always the best way to get the jobs done.  But at least they don't take up as much room in the drawer as two separate tools.  This one is pretty neat, and not a combination I have seen before.  One end of it scrapes the yuck off the bottom of the skillet and the other end crimps the rim of your pie crust.  It was a good enough idea to deserve a patent, which was granted on 5-10-21, and so marked on the crimping end.  There is some pitting to the surface but it is neat enough that it can be overlooked.  Maybe they were scraping the last of the pie crust out of the bottom of the pan.      UNC-PS-1

wire_pie2.jpg (24262 bytes)6 Tier Antique Wireware Pie Rack   This wireware pie rack is an unusual triangular form and will hold 6 pie tins.  These racks are great decorator items for a county kitchen being both attractive and functional---a great gift for your favorite baker, or use them to display tin or graniteware pie tins!  Guaranteed to be vintage, this one still retrains traces of original green paint.  (Pie tin not included)     LCM-KT-2

Tiered Antique Wooden Herb Drier   At least that is what I think it is.  It folds up and would store until needed.  It stands only about 2 feet tall so I don't believe it is for laundry.  Usually attributed to the Shakers, but we are not going to go there.       Click for Pic

Rare Patented Yellowware Meat Tenderizer  This is only the second or third one of these I have seen in 20 plus years of seeking kitchen related antiques.  It is a wonderful piece of salt glazed stoneware and in super condition given its intended use.  But in retrospect I guess if one was pounding on a piece of meat with a brick, the brick would usually win.  A lot of meat we buy these days could use a treatment.  Our consignor pointed out to us that this kitchen tool bears a December 25, 1877 patent date.      Click for Pic      Click for Pic

Clock Work Twisting Rotisserie by Salter  I am not really sure what this was for, but it slowly twists in the air when wound up.  I had been told advertising of some sort would hang from it and it would catch the buyer's eye when he was in the General Store or Hardware Store and saw the item moving above his head.  That what I was told anyway.  But I have always seen them offered as a rotisserie / roaster used at the hearth for over the fire, but there is a lot of paint on this for it to have been used for that.   It kind of has the look of a fly fan with the clockwork mechanism, but I have never seen one like this that would hang.       ML-ROT-1
