Keystone
Wall Mount Mixer / Eggbeater w/ Jar This
a a hard to find variant of a wall mount mixer. The cast iron arm is
marked with the patent info, and the phrase "Oil Me" The cast wheel says
something to the effect that only qualified retailers can sell this. The
jar is pretty nice. No chips at the top, and just minor flakes at the base.
The wall bracket is included, and is a cast iron recast. I am offering
others below. Different.

Kingery
Ice Cream Scoop The Kingery is a pretty
scoop that hails from Cincinnati, Ohio and was patented in 1892. The
location is stamped on the rotating bars inside the cone, and the size is
stamped on the outside on one arm. This is is the #30 size Kingery squeeze handle ice cream dipper, which is the smallest and
hardest to find size of this unusual patented ice cream scoop. Check out
the condition. It is like new with 98% of the nickel plating. A rare
find made all the rarer by the size and condition. Scoop it up!!

Raisin
Seeder Before
the time of the Thompson Seedless grape there were these devices. Raisin
seeders come in a nearly endless array of designs and levels of complexity.
We use to collect them, and some are decidedly harder to find than others.
This one needs to be cleaned, and one of the wires re-attached, but is otherwise
OK

The
Eggbeater Book This is the
first edition of Don Thornton's eggbeater book. It is long long out of print,
and if you are looking for info you need to get one the the 3rd edition versions
he is currently selling.. This one is for the collector who needs the 1st
edition / first book, but certainly not the complete story as the name implies on
this fascinating collectible. A great book, by a nice fellow who helped create
the market with this book, helped it along w / the 2nd edition, pumped it up with the third
edition, and then ???????

The
Perfect Patented Egg Cutting Guide
What a stupid idea this
thing was! A guide for making the perfectly level knife cut in the perfect
place in the shell of your soft boiled egg. Another wacky idea that was
granted a patent---this one on May 19, 1896. A copy of the very detailed
directions on how to use it to "sever the shell neatly and remove the top of
the egg without any muss" are included, which by the way refer to it as the
"Yankee Egg Holder". It figures. Who else would care. Personally
I avoid the problem by eating mine hard boiled.

"The
Bellows" Patented Nutmeg Grater This
cast iron nutmeg grater is a pretty unusual 19th Century antique kitchen gadget. This style Nutmeg
grater is commonly referred to
as "The Bellows" because of the shape. There are several different
variations that can be found. One has no clamp, and screw holes so you
could attach it to your Hoosier cabinet
or table. Anther has a different style handle, yet another has a different style latch
to close it, etc.
.It is a super nice casting, and the open heart like
handle design is great. It is operable and there is no damage or cracks.
It is written that in olden times Nutmeg was used a lot to hide the rancid
flavors of bad meat. That is given as the reason for the pocket style ones
you encounter. Nutmeg is used today to flavor baked goods,
soups and stews. An interesting piece of genuine Americana from the past.

19th Century Sugar Devil
This wrought
iron sugar devil or fruit auger has a great look and great patina. These were
used to break up fruit or packed sugar in casks or barrels and there are several
different versions that can be found. This one has a patent date in the late
1800's on the shank. You just do not see this sort of Americana anymore!

Saratoga Potato Chip Slicer The Saratoga
Chip is world famous. Google has entry after entry related to a search for
that, and those links talk a lot about George Clum the Indian who supposedly
first invented the potato chip in the 1850's in Saratoga Springs NY.
Information about this .75 potato slicing device was a bit more elusive and hard
to find. The patent was issued on June 18th 1887. The info cast onto
the frame says it was made in New Britain CT. The best info is that it was
.75 and sold by agents. I wonder if the original Indian inventor, George
Clum was getting any sort of a kickback?.
To use, simply load a potato or other
suitable vegetable onto the rotating arm, and go. I have heard that this is going to be the next "thing" after
the craze for kettle corn finally fades in to the haze of rancid smelling burned oil with sugar mixed in.
Let them eat chips.
