Century Bicycle Lantern Carriage Lamp in Original Box This lantern
is like NOS. The box shows some wear & tear from being shuffled about on
the shelf, but the light is mint. Check out the pictures of the box, it is
really quite unusual.

Wick
Trimmer These unusual devices came in a
number of different designs. Some were crude, while some later patented
versions were quite elaborate with springs and holders and the like. There were
very fancy versions and some made with brass accents. All were
designed to trim back wicks on lamps or on other lighting devices to make them
burn more evenly and efficiently. This one has a catch tray to keep the black
sooty trimmings form falling to the floor. It has a small stamp on the
back side that I assume refers to the maker, but I do not recognize it.
Probably English or European.

Place Tin Candle Mold Prior to the common use of oil lamps
and other fuel sources the candle was the main source of light in early American
homes. Use to be that people made their own candles instead of running down to
the store. These devices came in a number of
different designs and sizes. From singles to very large ones designed to
make 40 or more candles at a time.
This one measures approx 10" x 8" x 6" and is a pretty standard size for the typical American home when these were in common use. Click for Pic

George III Brass Push-up Candlesticks This pair of early
brass candlesticks have a great form and presence. They stand just about
10" tall and the bases are 4" square. The stepped bases are very nicely
done as are the main tube that ends in an unusual design cap with dropped
corners. They are period and authentic. The candle push-up feature
works well on one and seems to be stuck on the other. It looks as if one
of these fell over in the past and one of the dropped corners on the top portion
was bent / cracked and has been repaired. There is a grey line of what appears
to be lead, solder or something similar. It looks to be a very early repair and
adds character and authenticity to these. Very pretty.

Single
Brass Candlestick I do not recognize this form, and it is not
marked anywhere that I can see. It looks to be a very early and I believe
it is correct. It stands just about 10" tall, and the base is 4 1/4" Dia.
This and most of the other lighting pieces listed came from an auction held in
the 80's, here on the West coast but the description was not very specific.
It is jointed at the base and about 2" down, but the thread sizes are different
and it can not be made into a short candlestick. There is a small imperfection
in the top candle bell portion as if the pour was not thick enough when it was
cast. Look at the base and construction details and you can sense the age.
Very pretty.

Ember
Tongs The idea here was to take live embers from one fire
source to another stove or place you needed to start a fire. They are 18"
long and have a nice ball finial on the top and hammered flat grabber at the
working end. Nice form. .

Forged Iron Hooks The larger one is 14" long and the smaller is just over
7" long. Both pieces are Blacksmith made and the smaller one has twisted
arms. The hook end of the larger one is so close to being closed up that i
do not know what its intended use was, but it is nicely made and displays well.
These are pot hooks.
