Antique & Vintage Sewing Accessories
Antique Scissors and Ladies Knives
Most of the sewing related antiques you will find on this and our other Sewing Accessories pages originated from Pennsylvania, Ohio and Michigan, and were part two large and diverse antique sewing collections we are handling on consignment. This is the first time most of these pieces have been out on the market in many years.
Ladies Antique Silver Folding Pocket Knives The smallest one is marked "Germany" with a crown logo as well as "Sterling 825 Fine". It has two small blades.
The one on the left is also marked Germany and sterling, and has a maker name but the blades are a bit corroded and it is hard to read. One of the "blades" is actually a nail file.
The largest one is gorgeous, with lovely engraving on the blade, and the back side is monogrammed "Emma". It could be sterling or plate---I could not find a mark.
Left ....... Good ....... $45.00 VM-Knife-1
Bottom ......... Good ......... $30.00 VM-Knife-2
Right ......... Very Good ......... $85.00 VM-Knife-3
Ivory Handled Antique Folding Scissors These antique scissors have folding ivory handles so they can easily be tucked away into a pocket or purse. They are marked "Patent", and the beveled edge of the blades are actually files so they double in purpose. Be sure to look at all the pictures to see them folded up.
Very Good ......... $145.00

4 Unusual Pairs of Antique Scissors These four pairs of scissors will make a great start or added addition to an antique scissor or sewing tool collection. The large pair on the left is patented and I imagine the patent applies to the screw mechanism that allows them to be taken apart and also lets you adjust the tension between the cutting blades. It's a great idea as I have had a lot of scissors that could have used this feature---and have you ever tried sharpening a pair when they are together? But we don't have to worry about that anymore---nowadays we just throw them out and buy a new pair. The ornate brass pair has a decorative sheathe to cover the blades. The next pair are a fairly simple pair of buttonhole cutting scissors. The last pair are delicate tiny steel scissors.

Early Hallmarked Scissors in Silver Sheath and Set of Gold Handled Scissors The pair of scissors in the middle is marked "J. Rogers & Son" and they are hallmarked. I could not find a mark on the sheath---it looks to be sterling, but no promises on that.
The two gold handled ones are marked "Schnefel Bros. Germany" and are hallmarked. They are also marked "14K". They have a wonderful Art Nouveau logo inscribed on them and are likely for a ladies dresser set.
Gold ....... Excellent ....... $250.00 pr. VM-Scis-5
Silver with Sheathe ......... Very Good ......... $75.00 VM-Scis-6 SOLD!
