Most of the sewing related antiques you will find on this and our other Sewing Accessories pages originated from Pennsylvania, Ohio and Michigan, and were part two large and diverse antique sewing collections we are handling on consignment.  This is the first time most of these pieces have been out on the market in many years.

 

Thread Holding Stand  This is a cute little thread spool holder.  The upright pins are actually springs, and to get the thread in or out you bend the uprights and go.  It is marked "USA" and "Patent Pend" on the felt bottom.  It stands about 3" tall and is 3 1/2 across.  Cute!

Metal Multi Tier Thread Holding Stand / Pincushion  This is a cute little revolving metal thread spool holder with pin cushion on top.  It stands about 5" tall.  It looks to date from the 30's or so from the pincushion.  Nice!

Early Walnut Thread Holding Stand  This vintage thread stand is very nice.  It has a walnut base and fabric pin holder / cushion built into the top along with a needle emery.  It is a little over 13" tall and the base is 5" across.

Folk-y Figural Chicken Vintage Spool Holding Stand  This vintage thread holder is one of those handmade pieces that crosses the line from functional into folk art.  It measures about 11" tall.  In additional to the spool pins on the base there are provisions to hold a couple of thimbles (on top of the tail) and a pair of scissors (through the neck).  The condition of the paint is excellent front and back.  Really charming!

Folk-y Figural Donkey Vintage Spool Holder  Here is another figural wooden spool holder, this one of a donkey.  Note the darling blanket that it's wearing, made from a cotton duck type fabric.  The paint job is great too!  It stands about 11" tall and has a pin cushion on the base as well as a thimble holder and place to store a pair of scissors.
