Misc. & Unusual
Collectible Toy Sewing Machines

"Puppy" TSM Toy Sewing Machine"Puppy" Japanese TSM Toy Sewing Machine w/ Wooden Case    This cute little toy sewing machine is in super condition.  It is made of cast iron and has a great look to it with its colorful decorations and bright metallic blue paint.  The hooded wooden dome top case is very nice as well.  This style can be found w/ several other names including the Romance, and Victoria.  None are common, and they are seldom seen.

It would be interesting to know the history of the company, and if they were in existence before the war, or just appeared after the war when Japan was rebuilding its industry.  Did they move on and up to make other things?

This is a very well made and precision made piece.  It is set up to be used either with the hand crank, or by battery. I did not test out the battery operation, but from the look of it this TSM has seen little to no use, and I am sure the motor is OK. A very nice, and hard to find Japanese toy from just after the Second World War.

Small French Toy Sewing Machine / TSMSmall English Toy Sewing Machine / TSM   This is an interesting toy sewing machine that I have never seen or had before.  The collector indicates there is not one in Glenda Thomas's books on the subject.  It is a well made, and nice looking toy.  The condition of the paint is nice, but note that the spool pin is missing.  Different!

TSM Toy Sewing MachineRed German Toy Sewing Machine on Wooden Base   This is a cute little toy sewing machine with a couple of unusual aspects.  Few "tinnie" sewing machines were fixed to wooden bases as this one is.  Also note the spool pin comes directly out of the front side of the machine.  I am not sure what firm made this model, but it is nice, and it is a bit different.  The paint is is good condition, and the decals are as well.  It just needs a light cleaning to be a colorful standout in the collection.

Fridor German Toy Sewing Machine on Wooden Base w/ Dome TopFridor German Toy Sewing Machine on Wooden Base w/ Dome Top   The stitch plate is marked Schurhoff.  The machine itself Fridor.   Thomas' books show several different versions of this machine.  She claims they were made by Schurhoff, a German toy sewing machine maker, for the Danish seller Fridor, which is the name of a full size machine made there.  I guess that makes sense.  She does not show any tops, and the base here is a bit different than the ones she shows.   I am not sure what to make of it having never had one before.  It may be a made up after market job, I do not know.

Ernst Plank TSM / Toy Sewing Machine Ernst Plank TSM / Toy Sewing Machine   Though the ID tag is missing this TSM comes from the German maker Ernst Plank, who was most famous for their "boy" toys including trains, engines, boats, and more.  Their line of toys and sewing machines directed at the little girls of the day are not nearly as well known.  These were offered in Montgomery Wards catalogs in the US in the late 20's during the beginning of the Depression and I suppose in Germany and the rest of Europe as well.

The condition is good.

Blue Liliaputian TSM / Toy Sewing MachineBlue Lilliputian TSM / Toy Sewing Machine   This is a pretty hard to find little machine.  They were originally sold as penny toys, and few survived.  There are some parts missing below the stitch plate as there is no hook, and the arm to activate the mechanism there is short.

The condition is good.
