 Misc Drills & Boring Machines

"The Boss" Beam Drill    This is a well made patented beam drill that you do not see very often.  It has 2 heads so you could flip it around and the second head is a different speed. There is a double head eagle cast into the side rail, and a ruler as well.   It is damage free and there are no broken or chipped teeth.  It is just a bit dirty from sitting in the barn for the last 40 or so years.    click for Pic     click for Pic     click for Pic

Unusual Door Lock Mortise Machine I am not sure how exactly this works, There are two different size cutters, and it does seem to work, but I have not tried it on a door.  There is nothing broken that I can see. To use it would be clamped to the edge of the door and then while the top crank was turned you would feed the bit straight down making the proper door mortise to install the lock set. You would then move the unit to the next position and repeat until the mortise was the right length. The side crank would move the entire cutter unit back and forth to finish and clean the holes already drilled.    I have seen other versions of these, but never this one before.   Different.

Miller Patent  Door Lock Mortise Machine This one comes with a copy of the instructions.  There are at least 5  different size cutters, and it does seem to work, but I have not tried it on a door.  There is nothing broken that I can see. To use it would be clamped to the edge of the door and then the arm swung back and forth to clear an area for the lock.  Looks pretty involved to me and I have no idea what the little arms function would be.

Millers Falls Bench Mount Drill    This  is one of Millers Falls larger and heavier Bench mounted drills.  The original paint is in great shape.  The table looks to be a user made mock-up of the original.  There seems to be something missing or detached where the drill shaft hooks to the top threaded depth adjust or feed screw.  There is a retainer ring and the treaded portion has the little ball, but it is not attached at that point. It might need work to put it back into service.          click for Pic
