 Woodworking Squares Try / Mitre & more

 

 

2 Hall & Knapp Squares & Star Square   Tough to find, these squares have been in the collection for 30 plus years. Hall & Knapp predates Stanley and they were part of the original partnership when Stanley Rule and Level was formed in the 1850's.   

The top one is not marked that I can see on the blade, but the stamp in the wood is plainly visible.  It is in fine condition and suitable for the shelf and collection.  Nice, and very rare. 

The bottom has the same Hall & Knapp stamp on the handle.  It is faint but there.  The blade in not graduated and although dirty and stained pretty nice for something 150 years old. 

The middle one with the embossed Star by the Star Tool Co is OK but worn

The third one is an unusual  Marshall Wells.

The bottom one has a 6" blade and is marked Pexto but was probably made by Stanley
