Crank Neck Pattern Makers Chisels

Piece Set of J. Howarth & Wm. Marples Crank Neck Gouges
These came from the heir of a local old time patternmaker. The overall
condition is very nice. There is a mix of Howarth and Marples and in
different sweeps and sizes. The maker stamp is hard to read on some it
is so small, but you can see the logo. The handles on these
paring gouges are unusually small and something I have not seen before.
Most are stamped with the owners name C.
Wilkes. There are other similar size handles on other carving tools
and gouges I got from the same owner so I assume he custom made them for his
small hands or some special application. I am not sure. There is a mixture of sweeps and sizes
included here.
The largest is a 1 1/2 flat sweep, then a 1 1/4 middle sweep, 2 - 1"
with different sweeps,
a 3/4 flat, a 5/8" flat, 2 different 3/8" sweeps, and a 1/4" regular

I have never seen this before. There are 2 different 1/2 profile Patternmakers
crank neck chisels. It looks like a whole one was cut in half. I suppose to
clean out one specific rabbit or corner on the left or right. They do not look like they are from the same
original chisel.
