I am not a turner and really do not know what exactly to call these,
superflutes, bowl gouges, or what. Not sure why one is so much
longer than the other either. I did see that various outfits in the UK
and here get pretty good money for them. I assume these are older than
the new stained ones being offered under the same name. .

Tools, or ? What is here is nice
and they look to be pretty well made. I am not sure if all were meant to
be used with a lathe or not. Some look to be set up to act like
toothing cutters which I guess could be used on a lathe prior to gluing. In any
case they are well made and quality tools. I had somebody tell me
that the handle seen would fit into another longer wooden handle and were meant
to be used that way. They originated from here on the west coast,
and may have come from one of the pattern shops, or ship building outfits
from the bay area that produced and sold many aluminum tools for the work
that went on there.

This outfit is still in business, and still selling its backstock of
these lathe chucks that were first introduced back in the 70's. You can find their site
and read about them by running a Google search
on the title of this add. It looks to have seen little use, and the
example of the work it can hold on the Child site shows the type of work it
can help create
