AYR Walnut Infill Closed Handle Panel Plane This 14" Infill Panel
plane is marked as to maker with a bold stamp on the gunmetal lever cap. The
cutter is marked but hard to make out, and the chip breaker is a Mathieson.
There is enough of a graphic on the cutter that someone better versed will recognize
the maker. The throat is nice and as fine as any English Mitre Plane.
It is in very nice condition in all respects. The chamfered or bevel edge
of the steel sides which are dovetailed to the bottom is a great feature.
There is no pitting or rust and this plane was carefully polished at one point and
that still looks great. There is one small repair to the infill that can be
seen in the pics at the rear corner.

Rosewood Infill Panel

cutter is marked but hard to make out.
There is enough of a graphic on the cutter that someone better versed will recognize
the maker. The throat is nice. The chamfered or bevel edge
of the steel sides which are dovetailed to the bottom is a great feature. The
top of the rear tote has been repaired
There are minor spots of pitting but this plane still looks great and could
easily be brought to a fine condition with a bit of careful lapping and cleaning.

Infill Mitre / Rebate Planes Here are
a super nice pair of small English / Scottish Rebate / Mitre planes. The one on the
right is marked on the nose, and you can make out Glasgow, but not much more.
I believe it is a Mathieson but that might not be right.. Note the chamfered edges, and the finish
details that went into this planes makeup. The throats on both are perfect
and very close. Hard to find!!

Brass Infill Mitre
/ Rebate Plane by Lie Nielsen
I have been told, and have seen reference to this being a plane kit that Lie
Nielsen put out back in the 80's. That would be about right considering
all of the Lie Nielsen planes I have for sale came from one collector who was most active in the
80's and early 90's.
The tolerances, fine finish and
craftsmanship leave no doubt as to the makers skill in finishing this off.
It is not signed or marked anywhere. The wedge
fit is as tight
as possible and yet slides in and out as though machined. The opening at the throat
is as fine and straight as one could ask for. As fine a piece of
plane making as I have ever seen.
