18 Matched Skew Cut English Hollow & Round Planes    This set of 18 matched hollows & rounds are in near mint, near unused condition.  There was a bit of rust on some of the cutters which I have since cleaned, but they show no signs of use or abuse. 

Skew sets of Hollow & Rounds are 10 times harder to find than straight cut versions.  These planes are double stamped with two well known and respected makers / distributors of English Planes.  Preston and Varvill & Sons.    Special.

2 Pair of English Table Joint Planes  I assume 2 pairs gives the user a full set and a choice of which way to go, left or right.  Only two are marked but they are all by the same maker and have the same wedges.  Very Nice.

Ornate Carved / Decorated & Curved Smooth Plane   This unusual and highly decorated plane is probably Scandinavian and was intended for one specific job with the built in curve it has.  It is 8 1/2" long.  The carved decorations and date are reminiscent of the smooth boards that originate from Scandinavia where I assume they had a lot of time on their hands during the long cold winters to create such pieces of art to use as tools.  Note that the front horn has a portion missing.  It may have been a carved figural face, or perhaps it was just a bit larger.  We will never know, but it could be restored to be whatever you like.        click for pic     click for pic

Large Japanese Smoothing Plane  This is a nice looking plane.  There is Japanese writing on the top, but I can not say much as I do not read or speak the language.  The wood is a heavy dense reddish color, and I am unsure as to what it is.    Click for view      Click for view      Click for view
