Disston D-76 Commemorative
1876 - 1976 Bi-Centennial Saw
This unusual Disston saw was issued in 1976 as a
special by the town of Danville VA for the bicentennial in 1976.
Danville VA was the town that Disston had
moved to after it was sold in the 1950's. It is # 806 of 1000 made for
that event and
is in like new condition.The collector ordered it, opened up the box to take a look and then put it back on the shelf to never be seen again till now. It has the original display board, the original paper wrap, and original shipping box. It has a strong etch describing the event with other info, and there is also a piece of brittle paper describing the event. The handle is a nice design and this saw will be a welcome addition to the saw or tool collection. Very few of these turn up and even fewer in this nice condition. A must have for the complete Disston collection. Nice

small panel saw is nice.
The etch is deep as if stamped. It is sharp, and straight. There
is no pitting to speak of, just some staining. . Not a common saw, and it is not cut down.

apology at the top of the tip of the blade. There is a dent ding

there but weak. The Rosewood handle is OK. This one has a new
coat of glossy finish applied. The collector did that to most of his
stuff to keep the rust down. Straight, sharp and ready to go back to work.

The 5 of the 5 1/2 TPI is hard to make out. There is a small chip in
the top horn of the handle. Note that part of the paper labe around the

Saw This handsaw is straight has an
OK etch with the flying eagle, globe, and liberty bell. Stained but not
pitted. The Rosewood handle is nice. I am not sure when
exactly it dates from. I read that these were really D-12 saws issued
to first commemorate Disston's 75th anniversary, and later to commemorate WWI

Saw This handsaw is straight.
I cleaned it up a bit, and saw a Disston etch / logo, and now it is gone.
I am not sure if the front has been modified or not with the angle cut
there. As can be seen the medallion is missing, and one other screw is
a replacement. This saw came with all th other Disston saws with the
inventory prefix FP. They have spent the last 60 years or more in the
box i have offered elsewhere waiting to get back into the hands of somebody
who will appreciate them.
