Stanley Block Planes
The Stanley Block Planes listed on this page are all from the 60 series of block planes meaning they are low angle models.
All of the Stanley block planes listed on this page are variations of, similar to, or evolved from the basic Stanley # 9 1/2 design block plane. The #9 1/2 block plane went through a series of changes in its design over its 100 year span of production. The differences between the planes listed here are as subtle as finish differences, such as polished fitting, nickel plated or japanned finish, cap style, an extra 1" in length as with the 18 & 19, or with the 60 series of low angle block planes where the cutter is set at a lower angle than the high angle 9 1/2 family of planes were.
Note: The throats on all of the below planes are good unless othe
rwise noted. Many sellers of block planes never address and buyers are never told of the condition of this critical aspect. Nicks in the throat, or stress cracks at the edges. These planes are prone to damage in these areas and it needs to be considered.

Stanley #65 Series Low Angle Block Planes
The main differences here are the style of the caps. The knuckle joint is a war issue that was never nickel plated and is proper. Both are nice. Pic

Stanley #60 Series Low Angle Block Planes These are all variations
of the 60 series Stanley Low Angle Block Planes. On the left is a nickel
plated version, in the center is a 61 that does not have a adjustable front and
is a hard plane to find, and on the right is a pretty standard 60 1/2.
