#G3 Gage Smooth Plane
When Gage Tool Co. was Gage they only made wood bodied planes. They were
very popular in the East Coast / NJ region near where they were made.
When Stanley saw a competitor eating into their
market share the usual reaction was to buy them out
and that is what they did to the Gage Plane Co. of Vineland NJ. Stanley saw an opportunity to design and produce
a line of metal Gage like planes to compete with Sargents line of Auto Set
Planes which
looked similar. They offered this line for just 20 years and dropped it when
WWII began.
This #3 size G3 Stanley / Gage plane has been tastefully cleaned and is in very nice condition.
It is ready for the bench or shelf.

The Acorn 4 1/2 is a second line English made Stanley
Plane. First I have seen, but I do not live in England. It will make
a good user. It is in like new condition.

The later
Victor line from the 30's / 40's.was aimed at the casual use / homeowner.
These are two of the nicest original examples I have seen in years. You can
find them all beat up and used and abused, but not as nice as these very often.
