9 Cabinet Makers Low Angle Miter Plane w/ Hot Dog Handle The #9
miter plane was
known as Stanley's piano maker or cabinet makers plane.
It is a low angle plane designed for fine finish work and when properly
tuned and set up will produce a fine finish. This example is damage free, and has a nice even dark patina with no rust or pitting. Almost all of the original japanning is still on the interior surfaces. They are often damaged around the adjuster area at the rear, but this one is nice and damage free. The hot dog side handle is original and not a knockoff. Look at the halo it has left on the side of the plane when removed in the other pics. The throat is nice, and there is lots of life left in the cutter. It also has the proper long neck lever cap. A nice example of a hard to find plane.

11 Leather Belting Plane The #11 was
intended to be used when splicing leather belts used on machinery.
They made it for a pretty long time stopping production after WWI.
Given the design and orientation of the cutter adjuster this would be
considered a Type 1 dating it from before 1904. A nice

The Stanley #40 1/2 is the larger version of the #40 scrub plane. This
example is nice noting that the handle is Beech, and knob looks to be Rosewood.
The japanning is 90% or so. From the cutter logo it dates from near
the turn of the century. This plane is

The Stanley #40 1/2 is the larger version of the more common #40 scrub plane. This
example is all original and in very nice condition.
There are still remains of the decal on the handle, The cutter is marked with the sweetheart logo,
and is near full length. This plane is

2 Stanley # 48 T & G Flooring Planes These
are both nice. One is slightly earlier than the other but both are
considered type 1's. To use one would simply pull up on the front release
and swing the fence 180 degrees. It would use the 5/16' cutter to cut the
groove, and with the fence in the second position both cutters would cut the
edges leaving the tongue. It could be used on boards between 3/4" and 1
1/4". A versatile plane. Nice!!

# 56 Core Box Plane The #56 Core Box plane is
one of the hardest to find of the Stanly special use planes. They must
have reached the peak of their value and popularity just about when the
collector bought this from Iron Horse and paid the hefty sum of $1260.00.
A large amount to pay
for any Stanley plane back in the early 80's The condition is very
nice with no rust, pitting, or damage. The japanning does have some
pockmarks in it and a small area of some missing. All in all though a rare
plane in nice condition.

57 Core Box Plane w/ 3 sets of Wings The Stanley
#57 was slightly larger than the #56, and had the added feature of being able to
accept additional wings that would increase its working range. These were
used by pattern makers to cut perfect semi circles for molds. This
one has its full compliment of wings and turnbuckles, but it appears it was
assembled over time, and that some of the parts were nickel plated, and perhaps
replaced as the turnbuckles look to be different from each other. A nice
example overall though..

64 Low Angle Butcher Block Plane The
#64 Stanley Butcher Block Plane is one of the hardest of all Stanley planes
to find. Stanley only offered this plane for about 8 years ending production in the
early 1920's. It was offered with two different cutters, but only the
smooth one is here. There is a small chip in the lever cap, and the
top of the tote is a bit chewed up. It is otherwise sound and damage

# 97 Cabinet Maker Edge / Chisel Plane This is a
nice Stanley #97 Plane. The corners on the leading edge of the plane are
still square. The cutter is near full length and although there is some
staining there is no pitting or rust. The plane retains well over 90% of
the original japanning. These were offered as Piano makers planes as
well, and were intended to clean rabbits right into the corner or end of a cut. A nice looking plane in nice
condition!!

T & G plane is
all original, complete and in good overall condition. Minor losses to the
nickel. With a lite clean it will be even nicer. It is the largest size

164 Low Angle Plane The
#164 low angle plane is one of the rarest and hardest to find of all Stanley
planes. Stanley offered this plane for about 17 years beginning in the early
1920's.
The condition is exceptional with over 97% of the original
japanning and finish remaining. The Rosewood handles are in fine condition
with nearly 100% of their finish. The throat is nice and the moveable
front piece operates properly and is damage free. It was used, as the
cutter is short. Lie Nielsen makes a version of this plane, and they have
replacement cutters.
A super piece suitable for a spot on the top shelf
in any Stanley collection!!
