Stanley Rule & Level Co
Plow &
Combination Planes
Stanley tried a few different designs of metal bodied combination & plow planes before settling down and going with the #45 / 55 series of planes they are so well known for. This series of planes would also include the skew cut #46 & 47 models. The Millers Patent line of woodworking planes including the #41- #44 were introduced in 1870, and phased out in the 1890's. To learn all the history about the different models and types of # 45 & 55 planes one would ever need to know I recommend the great guide written and published by Dave Heckle past president of MWTCA. The Millers Patent line of Stanley planes is discussed in length in Roger Smiths works on the subject.

Stanley # 55 Multi / Combination Plane in Original Low Box
This Stanley # 55 combination plane is in super condition and looks to have seen
little or no use. It is a sweetheart
era plane dating from approx 1925 thru 1935 and the later style sweetheart logo
is on the skate of the main body.
The nickel plating on the main body, fences and other body part is 98% or
better. There is just minor traces of storage rust in the
corners where the skate meets the body. The box is OK. There is some minor wear to the
corners and covering but overall it is
nice.
This Stanley 55 has the auxiliary tower, both sets of rods, the cam, slitter, original screwdriver,
nickers etc. There is no instruction manual, but I have them listed separately
on the books page if you do not want to download and print your own from the
internet. The 54 cutters are housed in the 4 row box. The
cardboard cover looks great, but the end flaps are missing. The cutters themselves are near mint and show no signs of
ever having been used or sharpened ..
A super nice Stanley # 55 combination plane in the original box with all original
parts. These planes are becoming ever more difficult to find in this nice
condition. Use it or display it. Highly recommended.

plane is fine. There is no damage, but there are a few missing / minor
parts. The tower is present, but the bottom shoe is missing. It
also only has the long rods. Thee is no cam or instructions.
There is no outside original box. A
nice plane in very nice condition that will make for a great user at a great

Stanley # 45 Multi Plane
What you see is what you get. The collector bought every one he saw and it
made no difference to him if it had cutters or parts were missing, he just had
to have it.

knob came off something else. A nice 45 that will make a great user.
