#25 Low Angle Transitional Smooth Planes
The #25 Stanley transitional plane is considered the hardest to find and best user of the
transitional series of wooden planes Stanley offered. It has a lower cutter angle
and is said to work better on end grain and hard woods. It is 9 1/2" long,
and has an 1 3/4" wide cutter. From the left.
#1 Type 9 #25 Transitional Smooth Plane This one has been rehabbed and the paint touched up. It looks pretty good.

Stanley / Bailey Type 7 #25 Transitional Smooth Plane
This one has the first lateral feature w/o the disc later ones have. It
was only made this way for 1 year. Its paint has been redone and it

Same length as the # 27, and 1/8 smaller cutter.
It is hard to find them this nice!!.

The 27 is 15 long and has a 2 1/8" cutter. It looks all original, and

# 35 Transitional Smooth Plane
The 35 is the equivalent to a # 24 with a handle for more control. This example has seen use, but is sound and OK.
The nose is stamped a funny way with just a 35. All the rest of the
plane looks proper and I do not know the explanation for this stamp, on an

The 36 is the equivalent to a # 4 1/2. This example has seen use, but is sound and OK
noting the rear tote is cracked and needs to be reglued.

This one is cobbled up from various planes but looks good and will be a nice user or display piece.
The problems include replaced handle, Union Cutter, and something on the bottom,
the front knob, and its been repainted. The upsides - - - - The sole is pretty thick, and
it is useable.

This one is about as nice as they come. Full length cutter w/ V
trademark, full thickness sole, most of the original finish, etc. A very
nice example.

This one is nice looking. It appears the handle was replaced with one
that was a tad too tall and to compensate the owner did a very careful job of

Like the ones above. It is a pre-lateral dating it from before 1884.
It has features of both type 5 & 6 planes as well as a newer handle.

This #122 is the smallest Liberty Bell Plane Stanley put out. It is in very nice condition.
Stanley introduced this line of planes in 1876 to commemorate the 100
anniversary of the Revolutionary War and Declaration of Independence. They
ended production in 1918 and this example with the 92 trademark cutter would

#127 Liberty Bell Jack Plane
The background story on these planes can be in many references. They were
first issued in 1876, and production ceased in 1918 at the close of WWI. Stanley made
4 different sizes of this style transitional, and a couple of steel planes with
this blade adjustment feature and "Liberty Bell" cap. This was the largest
offered.

This is a very nice condition Stanley "Liberty Bell transitional plane.
Stanley introduced this line of planes in 1876 to commemorate the 100

is an earlier type with a strange cutter logo. Given that and the handle
shape i assume this is a Type 1 They

# 35 Transitional Smooth Plane
The collector bought this pre Stanley, Leonard Bailey early #35
transitional with solid nut, solid cap, good and proper cutter, and good handle
back in 1976 from Roger Smith. He was quite proud of it and wrote a
lengthy
tag / story about how unusual it was. That it has a new aux bottom applied
was of no importance or concern.
A lot of good parts, solid nut, solid cap OK handle, etc. or an OK example of a pretty rare old plane with a lot of character.
