Gurley
Extendable Leg Wooden Tripod
The cap and head of this fine condition tripod are clearly marked W. l. & E. Gurley / Troy New York.
This vintage Gurley tripod with extendable legs measures just over 3 1/2"
across the head. According to the chart published by Robert Parrish of
www.antiquesurveying.com
this tripod would be 3.625 x 18 TPI. It is in fine condition. Click for Pic Click for Pic Click for Pic
SBRG-G-TPD-2
Excellent . . . . . $250.00
Antique Extendable Leg Wooden Tripod
This tripod is unmarked as far as i can see.
It would be easy to identify given the colors the previous owner
decided to paint this. Note the long post style of the leg locking
nuts. Also note how the legs are a single split rod. A bit
different from the norm. The head measures approx. 3 3/4"
and has 12 TPI. According to the chart published by Robert Parrish of
www.antiquesurveying.com
this would probably be a Queen tripod. Click for Pic Click for Pic Click for Pic

size.
It would be easy to identify given the color the previous owner
decided to paint this. The head measures approx. 2 1/4"
and has 10 TPI. According to the chart published by Robert Parrish of
www.antiquesurveying.com this
would probably be a Buff or Berger tripod

2
Johnson Head Plane Table Tripods
The one on the left is complete and OK noting that there has been finish
loss from weather exposure. Under the protective cap is a 5/8" male
threaded stud that is the standard size to fit most plane table fittings. On the right is a nicer looking
example, but
one of the extension legs has gone missing and this one spent it life in the
corner after that happened and was discovered. A replacement could be
fashioned easily enough to make it a good user, or it can be used as is at
this height. They are both marked Dietzgen, and branded from the
government or state agency they once belonged to. The K & E table from
above will fit and work on either. .Click for Pic Click for Pic Click for Pic Click for Pic Click for Pic Click for Pic

Expedition / Explorer
Tripod
This is a nice condition almost miniature tripod that was made for the smallest transits or
levels. The size looks to be 2 7/8" x 12 TPI which a chart I saw
indicated it was for Ainsworth instruments. Other than missing
2 thumbscrews on 2 leg clamps the
condition is very nice.

Keuffel & Esser
Extendable Leg Transit
Tripod
The thread size for this tripod looks to be 3 5/8 x 12. Robert
Parishes chart on thread sizes for K & E instruments lists two sizes of
3.62, and 3.64 x 12 TPI I
believe it is for a K & E because of the design of the head. It is
unmarked with any name though. Click for Pic Click for Pic Click for Pic
