Antique / Vintage & Collectible
Trivets / Sad Iron Stands
Books / Literature & Laundry Related Antiques

We are offering many antique and collectible irons and laundry related antiquesLaundry Washboard originating from three great iron collections---one that focused on small and child-size irons, another that includes a wide array of unusual antique pressing irons and antique laundry / washing collectibles, and antique irons from another collection that got so large it had to be pared down and refocused.

We are delighted to be able to offer you select irons and related laundry antiques from these collections.  There are pieces included that have been off the market  for 25-40 years, and are the sort of things you just do not have the opportunity to find or buy anymore. We are happy to be able to participate in disbursing them for our consigners and find them new homes in collections where they can again be admired and appreciated.

The antiques found on this page will mostly relate to the tasks related to laundry and washing that was usually performed on Monday---devices designed to help take the drudgery out of the Monday / Laundry day chores women of yesteryear use to endure.

Trivets / Sad Iron Stands

We are delighted to be able to offer for sale a great number of antique, vintage, and collectible trivets antique trivetoriginating from several great collections that we are helping different consigners sell.

Nothing compares to the feel or look of early and well done cast iron, and perhaps no one single item better symbolizes traditional Early American cast iron antiques than the trivet.

With an almost intoxicating array of designs and styles to be had this category of collectingCast Iron Trivets can be a collector's and decorator's paradise.  Whether you collect trivets in and of themselves, or to accompany your antique pressing iron collection, you'll find a variety of interesting antique trivets listed below, ranging from very early hand-forged blacksmith-made examples to intricately designed cast iron trivets produced in foundries for the leading iron makers, to fine twisted wire and brass examples.

Most of the trivets listed below are in very nice condition and are ready for display.  Some just need a dusting.  A few need a light cleaning and waxing.   I usually do this on a soft wire wheel or by hand with steel wool, and then either wax or lightly oil them to retard any oxidation processes.  Heavier rust removal it is a longer process, first by scraping, then either electrolysis, or a coarser wire wheel and a final coat of wax or oil.  It is part of the process and the bonding with your new addition to the collection.
