We are delighted to be offering for sale over 3,000 antique
/ vintage / and collectible sadirons and trivets originating from several
great antique pressing iron collections we are helping consigners sell.
The consigners of these iron collections
have shared great memories of how and where different irons were acquired,
and how pleased they are that the sad irons they so lovingly collected
and preserved are now going to find homes with another generation of
pressing iron collectors.
An iron for every purpose---in an
era when everything had to be ironed. Manufacturers produced
irons for every trade and every category of clothing.
Look here for unusual shaped irons to fit every job---polishing
/ glossing irons, sleeve irons, hatter's irons, fluting irons,
dressmaker's irons, artificial
flower making irons, billiard table irons, and more.
You will find an incredible
variety of antique pressing irons offered by visiting all of the different
iron pages and the iron pages we call back pages you will go to when

Antique
Fluting Irons, Crimpers, Rufflers
Known by a variety of names these antique
irons are commonly referred to as pleaters, plaiters, crimpers, fluters,
rufflers or
ruffle irons.
They were in their heyday during
the mid to late 1800's and they are uniquely American. Some were
still being made up into the 20's for commercial applications and are
usually very large and electric.
These antique pressing iron came in
several different styles---the machine
crank, the rocker style, the roller
style, tongs, and more. Perhaps the most innovative interesting
and collectible versions of fluting irons are the combinations---a
single iron which served a dual function of being a flat iron and /
or a polishing / glossing iron when used in one position or another,
and which then, by one means or another, converted into a fluting iron.
