The majority of Antique & Collectible tools offered for sale on this site are being sold on consignment from one large and very old collection of antique tools that was begun back in the 60's, and consignments from other individuals that recognize the benefits of this approach to marketing their tools.  

The antique tools from these consignors include antique woodworking tools and vintage planes, vintage leather tools, antique farm tools, antique wrenches and other related antique tools from many different trades.

The largest antique tool collection was begun in the 60's with the original owner dying at the ripe old age of 97 the day after I sold him a truck load of tools in the mid 90's.  The collection he amassed is broad and is extensive and contained over 15,000 cataloged tools.  He did die happy as that last load was a pretty good one.

TAKE NOTE:  This collector bought and catalogued over 15,000 antique tools during his tool collecting lifetime and he did not take any with him.

Over the next few years I am gong to be listing various antique and woodworking tools, planes, levels, rules and other antique tools that originate from this large antique tool collection.  A lot of these tools have my name and tags on them in the form of the collectors inventory tags from 15-20 years ago when I originally sold them to this collector.  There are some great pieces, and as with all collections, some not so great, and it will all be listed and priced to sell on the different antique tool sale pages found on the left in the white column.  

The original collector was a pioneer in the field, and he broke new ground here in California being the first antique tool collector to offer flea market dealers $100 or more for individual pieces back in the 70's and 80's.  I moved into his territory in the early 80's and met him shortly afterward.   His standing offer and relationship with the local dealers made it near impossible to buy in front of him at flea markets or local shows as all the regular sellers held back their recent finds for him.  It was one of the major reasons I moved my antique buying and selling operation to the East Coast in the late 80's thru the 90's, coming back to CA only in the winter to sell many of my new finds to him and other west coast collectors.

Format

The antique tools offered for sale will be categorized by use or type and the links to the different pages will be found in the white column on the left of each page. On each of the Antique & Collectible Tool Sale Pages you will find antique and vintage tools for inclusion in the tool collection as well as vintage tools suitable for today's current wave of users seeking quality vintage tools to use.  

Early woodworking tools & planes by makers such as  Stanley Rule & Level Co., Sargent Tool co., Millers Falls Tool Co, Winchester, Keen Kutter or Simmons Hardware, Ohio Tool Co., Union Tool, Snadusky and many others will be found both on the Misc Plane page and the Stanley Plane page.  Included in these listings will be a good sampling of hard to find patented planes by makers such as Walker, Rodiers, Birmingham, Phillips, Davis, Steers, Leonard Bailey and others.     

Antique or collectible farm related antiques, wrenches, including implement & cutout wrenches, quick-adjusts, odd-ball patented wrenches, and the rest can be found on the Farm / Wrench page. If interested please be sure to go there if that is what you are looking for. 

Other vintage woodworking tools such as antique saws and drills, antique squares, bevels, levels and more will be accessible through specific links in the left hand column and can be found by clicking the appropriate link in the left hand column.

I try to be conservative in rating the condition of my tools that are for sale, and will be happy to answer specific questions about any.  A lot of the tools from this collection were enhanced and or protected with a coat of lacquer by the previous owner.  If you have been at this long enough you will remember that this practice was not only acceptable but encouraged to preserve and protect those early new finds.
