Century Antique Carpenters Wooden Tool Box This is a great carpenter's tool chest.
It is very well constructed, and in great condition. It has three sliding trays. Each tray
has multiple dividers and additional sliding trays within the different trays or drawers. You could send
years filling this box with treasures.
This box measures approx. 40" across the front. It is dovetail construction. It has
rolling casters under it. The two top panels on the lid are covered in leather. A super antique tool chest that looks great in our living
room, but even better in yours.
Century Antique Carpenters Work Bench This carpenter's
work bench is approx.. 6 1/2' long and 2' deep. It has working vices at both
ends. The one on the left is 18" wide. On the right the vise
wraps the corner. The base is original and mortise and tenon construction.
The top lifts off to make moving it easier. The only apology is the missing rods to operate the vices.
& Co. 1894 Catalog Good overall condition
on the interior. Some damage to the outer binding hinge (taped).
Super illustrations. Sargent's main focus at this point was Hardware
including door knobs, locks and associated hardware, more than tools and
planes. There are plenty of them as well as a full line of other
tools and general line of household goods from the era. Well over 1000
pages. While the cover says 1894 there are added inserts and updates
including a "new" price list for pics and hoes dated 1899. A wealth of
information and history.
Boley Leinen Watchmakers Lathe w/
Accessories Boley Leinen is a
well known and respected German maker of watch makers tools, lathes, and accessories.
Their lathes are
considered by many to be the Rolls Royce of Watchmakers Lathes. This example is in
virtually new unused condition. The box seen is original and marked
with the company name. All of the additional pieces in the
first pic are included and do not fit into the box, and do not have a box of
their own. I do not know the specific names of many of the pieces or
their function. We will let the pics tell that story.
Boat Builders / Shipwright Caulking Mallet Marked with initials,
but I do not see a maker name. Very nice condition. Good
faces. It is hard to see from the pic on the left, but this is about
50% smaller and lighter than typical full size mallet. (See pic on right) Nice!!
/ Boat Builders Caulking Mallet Unmarked. Oak or Black
Mesquite. Very nice condition. Good faces. The handle has a slight taper
and was installed by me. It is a dense dark hardwood that was a leg
from a 19th century tripod. Good fit and looks good.
Handle Multi Tool w/ 6 Tools Most every outfit made them and
marketed them as the do all, all you need drawer tool. Some were nice
and pretty substantial, some were pretty cheaply done. This is one of
the nicer ones. Nice!!
Patent Direct Read Micrometer This
unusual micrometer was made by the Central Tool Co, of Auburn RI. Its
claim to fame is the window where the hundredths and thousandths numbers
come up automatically as you turn the thimble. The numbers do change,
but i am not sure that it is calibrated or correct. Jaques held several
patents for machinist tools and micrometers. See pic for dates.
Different & Nice!!
W. Taylor Rosewood Handle Leather ToolAt
least that is what I think it is. A burnisher, or ? The blade is
not sharp and seems too dull to be a letter opener or something like that.
It has that Gomph or early Osbourne leather tool look and feel to it. A nice example
of - - - - !!
Metal Co. Collection
The Frictionless Metal Co was based in Richmond VA and made Babbitt bearing
metal for use in
large machinery prior to widespread availability of ball bearings.
What I am offering here is a collection
Frictionless Metal Co. pieces assembled over the years by a
collector of levels. One of the products Frictionless Metal Co put out
were small decorated advertising levels produced for them by Starrett. They are
considered hard to find. They are on the left below 2 examples of the product they
made, Babbitt ingots.
Buying one level probably lead to the start of this
collection which includes two Babbitt ingots, 2 of the levels, 2
blotters, numerous used letter envelopes with advertising graphics, a 1901
poster calendar, and the very rare good luck horseshoe advertising clock
seen in the last pics. The clock is not working. Check all the
